Here's another suggestion for you: try a home-style meal at the Cơm Niêu Ý Việt restaurant. Many customers praise the diverse and rich flavors of the dishes at this place, noting that the menu is varied and the taste is delicious, all while maintaining an affordable price.

Cơm Niêu Ý Việt is also memorable for its extensive menu, featuring dishes that feel close to the heart of Vietnamese family meals. You can enjoy famous pot-cooked rice, flavorful braised fish, dried squid, kale soup, and braised ribs, among others. The rice is cooked in a pot, producing soft, round grains without any mushiness. The dishes are served promptly, and despite their simplicity, they are beautifully presented, adding an appealing and visually stimulating aspect to your dining experience.

6. Ănăn Saigon

Anan Saigon, a modern take on traditional Vietnamese cuisine, is situated in District 1 near to a long-standing wet market. It improves its recipes with higher-quality ingredients and presentation, taking inspiration from the street cuisine culture of Vietnam.

Sadly, Anan's menu has some of our favorite foods removed. The following menu items are still our favorites: wagyu fried rice, duck banh mi, wagyu banh mi, and truffle pho. We're not the biggest fans of their inventive fusion foods, such the Da Lat pizzas and the banh xeo tacos.

We object to a number of things about this place. Because of the modest size of the restaurant, eating might occasionally be difficult at the little dining tables. In general, don't expect a good dining experience because the service is also sporadic.

We believe that Anan is a tad pricey for what it provides. That being said, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Vietnamese food is unique due to its creative approach, which is why we believe it's worth trying.

7. Vietnam House

Vietnam House, which is situated on one of the most picturesque avenues in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, serves contemporary Vietnamese cuisine. The eatery is located in a gorgeously renovated French colonial structure. However, because of the rough surface and overuse of glass adornment, it can get rather noisy at times.

Using higher-quality ingredients elevates the dishes more than attempting to be really inventive or imaginative. They strike a reasonable mix between tradition and innovation overall, in our opinion.

Once more, we regretfully cannot find several of our favorite items on the menu. They used to prepare certain lesser-known Vietnamese foods, such miến lươn (eel noodle soup), which is well-known to locals but less so to visitors. The tamarind pineapple shrimp soup and salmon vermicelli noodle soup are two more of our faves that are still available.

8. SH Garden

top-15-vietnamese-restaurants-in-ho-chi-minh-8

The dishes at SH Garden are incredibly diverse, representing culinary delights from all three regions of Vietnam, prepared with the authentic flavors of the countryside. Notably, the menu includes a wide variety of options, ranging from rice, vegetables, meat, fish, seafood, to purely vegetarian dishes for those who follow a plant-based diet. Regardless of the cooking method, the dishes at SH Garden always boast delicious aromas and are infused with the distinct flavors of a typical Vietnamese family meal.

The ambiance at SH Garden is decorated with a cozy layout and warm colors, making it the perfect setting for a small family meal. Additionally, the restaurant features a team of professional and enthusiastic staff members who are ready to assist you in selecting from the menu and organizing a perfect gathering with friends or colleagues.

Propaganda Bistro is the perfect rendezvous for food enthusiasts, catering to both Western and Vietnamese tastes. Driven by a passion for Vietnamese cuisine, Propaganda introduces a variety of signature dishes and regional specialties.

As one of the most emblematic representatives of Saigon's culinary scene, a dish suitable for any meal of the day is the expertly crafted broken rice (cơm tấm). It seamlessly combines tender and flavorful grilled meat with a rich and savory taste, complemented by a side of pickled vegetables to counter any sense of heaviness. This makes the dish truly enticing and easy to enjoy for everyone.

Propaganda's interior is designed with your comfort in mind, featuring cozy attic rooms, a breezy terrace, and an open bar counter, making it suitable for various group sizes.

10. Moc Rieu Nuong

11. Laang

top-15-vietnamese-restaurants-in-ho-chi-minh-11

Laang is a contemporary Vietnamese restaurant with two Saigon locations. Its main goal is to serve scrumptious and healthful meals in a serene setting. The vast menu offers both contemporary selections and numerous traditional Vietnamese dishes. If we tell their kitchen that we like our food more Northern-style, they can also change the seasonings.

Bun bo Hue and the red rice noodle soup with shrimp and crab (bánh đa cua) are two of our favorite dishes here. The second meal is a specialty of my hometown of Hai Phong, a beach city in Northern Vietnam, albeit it may not be well-known outside of Vietnam. We also enjoy their squid with salted egg sauce and mustard green soup with fish, which is a really traditional family dish.

12. Saigon Grill

Compared to the restaurants we've already recommended, this one is very different. It is under a category of eateries called “quán nhậu” in Vietnamese. Quán nhậu are informal eating places where coworkers and friends get together to socialize over food and beverages in a loud and energetic setting. In these kinds of settings, food typically acts as a social connector. The closest English translation is probably "beer garden," as there isn't another one.

We discover that Saigon Grill offers better quán nhậu in HCMC, with food that is surprisingly good for this type of establishment. Just don't expect the kind of sophisticated cuisine or exquisite ingredients you would get in some of the aforementioned restaurants or other more upscale venues. Our favorite dishes are the seafood stir-fry with glass noodles, the grilled fish from La Vong, and the grilled pork ribs from Saigon.

top-15-vietnamese-restaurants-in-ho-chi-minh-12

Saigon Grill is a top-recommended Vietnamese rooftop restaurant with views of the Bitexco skyscraper that is situated in the middle of the city. Please be aware that this rooftop restaurant does not have air conditioning and that all of the seats are outside.

Due to the sometimes overpowering loud setting, it might not be the best option for families with little children or couples looking for a romantic supper. Nonetheless, it's a great place for a get-together with friends or for a laid-back hangout. Here are also gatherings of Vietnamese families with children. This restaurant is, in our opinion, one of the greatest if you want to experience Saigon's informal, social eating scene.

13. Hum Vegetarian

One of the greatest high-end vegetarian Vietnamese restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City is Hum. The restaurant's serene ambiance allows patrons to momentarily escape the busy life of the metropolis.

At Hum, carefully prepared veggies, mushrooms, fruits, and nutritious grains take center stage and are turned into a range of delectable and filling dishes. In addition, Hum serves a selection of healthful beverages like fresh fruit juices and herbal teas.

top-15-vietnamese-restaurants-in-ho-chi-minh-13

Hum's braised tofu and eggs in spicy sauce, salt-roasted butternut squash salad, mushroom fried spring rolls, and Hum fried rice are some of our favorite meals. Although it's somewhat spicy, their sweet and sour soup is also incredibly tasty. We believe that the cuisine at Hum will appeal to nonvegetarians as well.

14. Pi Vegetarian Saigon

top-15-vietnamese-restaurants-in-ho-chi-minh-14

Another excellent vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant in HCMC is called Pi. This restaurant offers inventive cuisine as well as vegetarian alternatives of some classic favorites. We have tasted a variety of colorful, tasty, and nutritionally balanced dishes here.

Though there is a lot on the menu, the staff is happy to make recommendations. We especially enjoy their fried spring rolls with tempeh and seaweed, and avocado and silken tofu with lemongrass ginger sauce.

15. Secret Garden

From the moment you step into Secret Garden, it's as if you're immersed in the tranquil and serene space of a fairy-tale countryside right in the bustling heart of Saigon. The atmosphere is filled with various plants, vines, wooden tables and chairs, and familiar objects reminiscent of home, even including roaming chickens in the restaurant's yard.

top-15-vietnamese-restaurants-in-ho-chi-minh-15

It is this very ambiance that earns Secret Garden the affection of its patrons when they visit. It captivates not only those who carry a longing for their hometown but also brings the pure beauty of authentic Vietnamese cuisine to international guests. Naturally, Secret Garden stands out in the memories of everyone who mentions it, thanks to its rustic, familiar, and dearly beloved flavors.
