About 30 kilometers south of Ha Long and 30 kilometers south of Hai Phong is the island of Cat Ba.

The top lodging options on Cat Ba

Cat Ba's hotel business is well-established; therefore, the town's coastline is lined with options for travelers.

Cat Ba Oasis Bungalows is where I recommend you stay. The food and service in the cafe are both superb. I like swimming in the pool.

The Dai Thuy Hotel offers high-quality accommodations at a reasonable price. The staff makes you feel right at home.

Packing List

Here are some items I think you should get ASAP:

Water - Superior hiking footwear

Insect deterrent - Remedial materials

Vacationers abandon their Cat Ba National Park bungalows to climb Ngu Lam Peak.

Seeing the abandoned houses dotting the streets was an interesting sight. Those homes are definitely strange looking.

Ways to walk in nature

The ascent to Ngu Lam Peak can be made through either of two routes. We opted to take the long way home. Along the way, we saw many different kinds of trees and insects.

There were a number of signs pointing the way, so we didn't get lost on the way up to Ngu Lam.

Cat Ba National Park Lookout

After a long day of climbing, photography, and cultural immersion, we finally made it to the lookout. It was a great experience overall, despite my phobia of heights.

I was wondering if you could inform me if trekking in Cat Ba National Park posed any dangers.

Yes. That's why it's recommended that you go on a hike with a local acquaintance or guide. If you go trekking in the woods, you run the risk of becoming lost or wounded.
